San Bruno, [See
Map] which is located in San Mateo County
is a premier bedroom community 12 miles South of San Francisco and extends from
the Bay to the crest of the Peninsula Hills.
Its immediate community to the North is South San Francisco, and to the
South is Millbrae. With a
population of 40 thousand, it is governed by a Council-Manager form of
government with a five member city
council, the Mayor is a member of the council and is elected to
a two year term.
The proximately to the Pacific Ocean on the other side of
the mountain to the West makes the weather mild year round and the averages
annual rainfall is about 20 inches. You
will find people sitting around and swimming in the heated outdoor pool every
month of the year.
Shelter Creek is nestled in a protected canyon above the city proper and enjoys fogless days and nights year round.
Shelter Creek is 1.4 miles to a BART
Station, 1.6 miles to a CalTrain
Station and 3.1 miles to the San
Francisco Airport. Being
only a block from an Interstate 280 on/off ramp, and at the point where
Interstate 380 connects to Highway 101, it
is convenient to San Francisco and Silicon Valley Commuters.
There are three SamTrans
bus stops adjacent to the complex, with commuter buses going to both BART,
CalTrain and the large Tanforan
Shopping Center approximately one mile away.
The complex was developed in 1972 as apartments and renovated into
Condos in 1984.

The Complex gets it water from San Bruno Water District
which in turn gets its water from the High Sierra Hetch
Hetchy Reservoir in
Yosemite National Park Water
quality is excellent. Water, hot
and cold, is provided without meters and is included in Association fees. Each
building has two trash rooms, and pickups are done four time a week on Monday,
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday by NORCAL Waste
Systems.
The Association contracts for a 24/7/365 Command
Security Service to provide
around the clock security.
Landscaping is contracted to Gachina
Landscaping Management. Electricity
is provided by PG&E, but is sub metered by the complex, with each unit
owning the meter. There is a
project underway to upgrade the meters to a wireless remote reading system.
It is anticipated that this will cost each unit around $300.
The Complex has access to two cable companies. The city owned San Bruno Cable is capable of carrying 78 analog channels plus over 200 digital cable channels along with two way data communication. High speed Internet access is also offered. Eight Years ago, the complex allowed a satellite cable service to install a second service on the roofs of each building and make it available to any unit. That company is now owned by DirectTV
The San
Bruno Senior Citizens Center is within walking distance[0.4 miles], The
Public Library [0.9 Miles]. Five
elementary schools around the complex are:

A Gas Station/Minimart, 7-Eleven and Video Store are only a block from the complex and the Bay Hill Shopping center is only three blocks away. Bay Hill provides an up scale super market. [Molly Stones], a Longs Drug Store, numerous eating establishments, a major fitness center, German Bakery and a Starbucks.
